How to install MIDI Samples

How do you install the sound sample --> Ie: actually getting them to work when you play the midi file, instead of having them lie there...

(I have had just downloaded a few sounds, and they definitely sound much better than my hardware sounds.

Are these soundfonts?

If so, you'll need to locate the piece of software which is responsible for loading them in and out of your sound card. On Creative products, this is often called SoundFont Bank Manager.

If your sound card isn't soundfont compatible, you could try something like this: SynthFont home page

And oh, Dissonance is not beautiful, nor is it artistic. At least in my Point of view.
What music do you listen to then?

Nah thats my writing philosophy. I by that i mean by dissonances greater than a tone, and its the resolving part that I am after; Dissonances must be perfectly resolved (okay my point of view).

Hmm, quite tricky then. You would probably have to use a sampler of some kind. Are these WAVs and MP3s for actual instruments, or are they standalone sound effects? If the former, I simply wouldn't bother.
