Hyperbolic Geometry

Last summer YC had a duet competition and this was my entry. I did not win, but since then I have acquired better libraries and better rendering skills (I believe).

The Piece is based On Hyperbolic Geometry which has a different outlook on everything around us. In Euclidean Geometry (what you learned in school), a line and a point not on the line has one line that goes thru the point that is parallel to the 1st line. In Hyperbolic Geometry, there are at least 2 distinct lines thru that point that are both parallel to the original line. In math speak, that means there are an infinite number of lines thru that point that are parallel to the line.

I know, Who cares?! Not even Mathematicians care much about geometry anymore.

I composed this one by Playing and recording the keyboard and then adding the violin afterwards one note at a time in sibelius.

Anyway, here it is

Any and all comments are appreciated.

about halfway through this the violin started playing the most beautiful melody ive ever heard from you Ron! i loved the pizz too, nice touch.

when i started reading about the geometry lesson you gave, i got lost in the middle, so i skipped it, but then you said it doesnt matter to anyone so i was relieved . good work Ron, music is always something that makes my day.

That little section in the middle was an after thought that IMO makes the piece. I agree that that little melody is my favorite part of the piece.

Thanks man.

Ron,

This rendering is significantly improved compared to the original version (which I had downloaded so I made a direct comparison).

I've always liked this piece - the new rendering brings out its fine qualities even more.

Of course, I won't ask about the score .

ROFL

I still haven't fixed the score completely. I work on it now and then. But that isn't fun, whereas composing new stuff is!

I still have to go back into this and work more on the individual notes for the violin, adjusting their attacks and all the other CC data. I just haven't taken the time to do it yet.

Thanks

Ron
