If that is a sitar I hear, I love it muchly! If I'm hearing bassoon in here as well, it is a very nice match. That goes for horn use as well. At one point near the beginning I was hearing some flute-like instruments and it briefly put me in an east-Asian feel. Loved the section about halfway starting with a horn fanfare in some funky intervals. It happened again a little later as well.

I'm just coming over here after listening to the other piece you were going to call "Zero and other Large Numbers", and I think I sense a bit of tragedy in this one too. Very interesting and different stuff from what I'm used to hearing from you. Very effective use of exotic harmony!

Cheerios,

James.

Hey Ron, I totally loved this work. It is nothing like the music that I'm used to listening from you and, on this occasion, this is a very good thing.

You have some nice themes, a great rendering and a lovely soundscape created.

Thumbs up from me!

THat is a Tambura which is a lot like a Sitar. It just has a little better sampling sound than my Sitar sample. The flute like thing is from the Mid east and in the mix it dissappears a little too much and I need to go back and fix that, just haven't had the time to do so yet.

I think I have been doing a few Tragic type pieces lately, don't know why my muses are pushing me that way. Hope it isn't a sign of foreboding.

Thanks James for taking a look see. I always enjoy your input.

Omri

The library is actually called EWQLSO RA. Named after the god Ra from Egypt. It is however a collection of world instruments. It has a lot of percussion in it and some off the wall instruments as well. I know I use it all of the time now.

Thanks guys

Ron

I haven't seen you around in a while. Drop me a PM when you get a chance and let me know what is going on.

This one surprised me as well. I got the new library and this piece almost wrote itself; It was a fun time composing it. But is really just a souyndscape as you said.

Thanks...don't be a stranger and let me know if I miss any of your posts.

Ron

Hey Ron,

This has a solid eastern influence yet you can still hear your style peeking out.

I like the bartok pizzicato for the rythm. It has a very juicy sound. The samples in here are good. The flute in this piece is mixed a little low during the louder and more climactic sections though.

Near the end you bring the piece back to the beginning. That helped bring the piece back to its root so to speak. However, some of the cymbal/gong work was a little overdone. Mainly because it was highly active in sections that were not so active.

I wouldn't say this is just a soundscape as this piece progresses and is based entirely on the melody. It takes you to several different emotions surrounding one specific emotional state.

Overall, it sounds like a tragic piece. It is well executed and I personally like the eastern influence.

Well done, Ron.

I hope it all went well last week. I am still in my math class, so am finding it very difficult to find the time to sleep, let alone anything else. Let me know how it went at the concert.

Bob

I noticed that the flute was mixed too low not long after composing this and each time I remixed I forgot about it. You are the first to also notice it. Once I get some time I plan on adjusting that.

I also like the Bartok Pizz. It has a neat sound to it , but I have been reluctant to use it a lot, just because it does sound so prominent in a piece.

Thanks guys

Ron
