A rather "free" arrangement of my pianowork "La Sorcière" (which I already posted here) for string quartet, in which I tried to keep it playable (evenly spreading rests), as well as taking the special seating of the players which I envisioned (see pdf), in account. To be played irritatingly, cynically and acidly...

A bit more information:

1. Techniques used: nothing special, aside glissandi, pizzicati and double stops. Mostly things to make it sound shrieky and atonal-like occasionally.

2. How long it took to compose the piece: a few hours a day, for about three days. Most of the time was spent at placing dynamics.

3. Structure of the piece: no idea

4. Obstacles when composing: definitely the "harmonics"-bit around 1'13".

I like this a lot. This is one of the better works I've been able to hear on this forum (although with my computer being rubbish as it is, often I don't get to hear things). Love the use of effects like pizzicatos, glissandos, et cetera.

Thanks! I got lots of information about effects and how to write for violin, viola and cello from this website: THE ORCHESTRA: A USER'S MANUAL , in which players of all kinds of instruments give info via sound excerpts and little movies (very handy).
