Latin/Jazz experiment...

Hey everybody! This would be my first post here, just found the website, looks great!

Anyways, I'd love to share a small experiment with you all. A Latin piece featuring time signature changes from 6/8 to 4/4. That's where the "experiment" part is. Also features a brass melody, a Rhodes solo and a piano solo out.

Hope you enjoy!

Welcome to the forums Cdnalsi . Now, I am going to use the Force to determine that you got your username from a cheat code on Motoracer, am I correct? Welcome none the less.

Hehe funny story about that Motoracer, actually!

I've been using an username called "Island C" for quite a while back in oh, '94, '95, and then finally got bored and decided to just reverse it and Cdnalsi came up. And then in '97 Motoracer came out, and I entered my name for a profile and I was the only one who had all the tracks unlocked. What are the odds of that?!

Anyways, thanks for the welcome! Did you get a chance to listen to the thing?

Cheers!

LOL! That is hilarious!

Yes, I did listen to the piece. It was very good. I can't really think of anything I would change. Although, I must admit, jazz isn't really my thing. But that doesn't really matter much to your piece. It's just my personal preference. Good job!

Thanks for listening!

I'm guessing the piece is either that bad, or out of the 55 people reading this, it's just you who would want to listen and maybe post a couple of words..

Strange, actually..

This is really good. It almost gets cheesy at the beginning...but you save it with that badass trombone bass line (totally copped from Dave Holland )

Very nice writing, great playing - I assume it's you on the rhodes? Nice...I like the feel change partway into the rhodes solo - subtle, and really perks your ears for the solo. The swap from 6/8 to 4/4 is actually really effective....

Great job
If you feel like it, shoot me a score....I'd love to play this sometime.

I'm really totally clueless about jazz, so I'll just give my general impression, which is: Great!! A real joy listening to that. I really loved the soli too, especially the Rhodes one. It's just a cool instrument too. And yeah, the signature changes worked very well.

*clap*

Thanks for listening you guys!

@Robin: Can you recommend that Dave Holland recording? I haven't been following his work, not a fan actually...

Yeah, that's me on the rhodes, actually, that's me on everything...
I don't have a score, unfortunately, I just plugged in my stage piano through MIDI into Reason and started playing and sequencing...

@Gardener:
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it! Gotta love the Rhodes!

I don't understand what you're trying to say.

To paraphrase what he said:

Thanks for listening!

I wonder why you are the only one who commented about this piece, out of the 55 people who viewed this thread. My two possible explanations are:

1. The piece is bad.

2. The other people who read this thread didn't feel like listening to the piece, or to comment on it.

This is strange.
I hope I could help
