Life's images: Last parts

Here are 2 new parts to "Life's images"-collection. What do you think? I'll post the sheet music later.

Now I have got LI 1 in extended E major, LI 2 in modulating F major, LI 3 in G minor, LI 4 in extended A minor and LI 5 in Bb major (Gigue in Bb major). I think it doesn't need pieces anymore.

elk3 shows an appealing transition at around 1:00, but something sounded wrong, i don't know precisely what i guess that the bass line is somewhat weak, but the harmony itself is lovely. you might consider changing some things to the chords structure. i feel that this section would profit by showing a bolder voicing. other thing is that the left hand is nearly all built up through up-down-up-down-up-down motion, that turns somewhat predictable after some time. the overall is fine for me, i guess that the problem is just some polishment missing.

elk4 is strange, seems to be just a sketch. the beginning is wonderful, but after 0:16 the music becomes a mess with no structure and drastic changes of mood with no noticeable link between the sections. the return of the opening theme at 1:26 has no effect at all for the overall cohesion after such dismantling.

The main theme on elk3 is quite delightful.
The section with the block chords felt like a welcome change of pace. It started out like a hymn but I also felt like after the first phrase of that section a few voices taking passing notes etc. would have enhanced the effect.

I loved elk4's starting theme. However, I kind of felt that it wandered and nothing as memorable was ever presented. Also, is there a reason the block chord theme repeated in this piece? I suppose it has special meaning in the cycle you're working on.

Anyway, thanks for posting.
Maybe the whole is somewhat less than the best parts (IMHO) but there *were* some pretty ideas in these pieces.

elk3 was enjoyable enough. But I also felt that the switch to 4/4 at around 1:00 was a bit disjointed. Still, good to have a bit of variation.

I liked the starting theme in elk4. Reminded me a bit of Bach. But overall I think the piece changes direction a bit too much. The 2/4 section sounds very "classical". I am not sure whether it is good to have such contrasting sections in the one piece (ie - Baroque and classical).

Just a question... why did you end on a different chord from what you started on? And what do you mean by "Life's images"?

Well, in elk4, when listener has listened this baroque-section again, the chords modulate so rapidly that the he has already forgotten where we've started (from a-minor chord).

I can't explain why elk3 ends in with a clear dominant chord. But that's the point. The end is surprising.

I thought that "Life's images" would be a good name for this collection, because when you listen this music you feel like you're running through difficult phases of life. Understood?
