Looking for a new wav sequencer...

Hi all, this is my very first post here.

I started using Tunafish recently. It's simple, it only has the features I want and nothing else, and it only cost $30 to register. HOWEVER.... it's just a little too simple. Actually it only has one flaw for what I need it for - it only has two time signatures: 4/4 and 3/4. Seriously, if it just had 6/8 as well, it would have everything I need. It doesn't work to just use 3/4 either, because that involves bumping up the tempo, and the max tempo is 200.

Sooo.... as much as I like the interface, I'm looking for something new. I have very few minimum requirements, and anything beyond these is a bonus:

1) It needs to have a step editor (for example, I'm someone who considers that Reaper, while a great recording and mixing down program, is not a sequencer). See Tunafish for a good idea of what I mean.

2) It needs - really needs - to be able to trigger wav files, because all my drum samples are one-shot wav files. And of course, it needs to have adjustable velocity for every hit.

3) It needs to be able to sequence VST instruments (and use VST effects). I don't play keyboard, I can only enter notes in a step editor.

4) And naturally, it needs more than 2 key signatures.


It's such a shame that Tunafish has everything except the last one, it really is so good in every other way for what I need, and surely it would be easy enough for them just to add 6/8.

So basically, all I want is Tunafish with an extra time signature ore two, lol.

But anyway, that's what I'm looking for. I'm sure there are some costly and many-dfeatured software suites that might do this plus a whole lot more. But I'm not trying to smash a peanut with a sledge hammer here, my requirements are very small.

Any suggestions are very welcome and greatly appreciated.

honestly, tunafish sounds like a joke, you might want to try another DAW/sequencer and not be deprived of all the functions you might need someday.
every sequencer/daw has what you need. (cubase, sonar, logic, protools, even ableton live).
get a sampler to trigger the wav files with midi, this page has some free vst samplers on it: Plug-ins / DownLoad / VSTi FreeWare Collection - Espace Cubase

or just go and download the free sampletank version.

Well, a disadvantage with using those VSTi samplers is that they appear to be built to handle a bunch of samples, so that it's basically a drum machine. The disadvantage of this is that you can't adjust the effects on each drum (snare, kick, tom etc) independently. Any effects applied will be applied to the whole kit. Using one VSTi drum machine per channel to control one drum sample per channel so that I can independently set the effects on each drum in the final mix is kinda overkill. That's why I'm really looking for a wav sequencer that does what Tunafish does: just trigger a wav file with no need to do it via a VSTi.

On the sampletank page it appears the only free thing available is the Sampletank 2 demo.

Does Cubase (for example) have a sequencer that can simply trigger a wav file? You'd think with a reputation like that, it could do something like this.
