This is total speculation, but well, the dances project of yours was a lot all at once, wasn't it? Maybe you're just in need of a break? * shrugs * I know that when I'm in a period pretty devoid of inspiration I stop feeling like a composer at all, let alone a classicist or whatever the heck it is that I am. * grins *
Either way, it sounds pretty good to me as a fan of your music, though. (As with the others, I really like this sketch here - and of course I like your older work, as well.)
Now, onto my contribution. (This is a really neat project, by the way. I can't believe how differently all these turned out despite being based on the same theme! It's great!) Did this in half an hour at 1 AM last night. I used a string quartet just because that's the ensemble I've been thinking in terms of lately (I'm 3/4 of the way through a piece for it in F). It's really weird listening to this, because I can tell I wrote the harmony, but the melody
definitely isn't mine. It must be like having kids.
