I'll get this ball rolling.

I encourage you to have a crack at this. Let me remind you of the rules:

1. The game is, you must harmonize the melody. Harmonizing a melody simply means that you must work on the music in a vertical manner. In English, this means, you have to keep the melody, but add chords, grace notes, fillers, etc to make the melody as interesting as you can get.

2. You can discuss among everyone within the topic who you feel has the best composition for the particular melody.

3. Feel free to revise your melody at any time! Mistakes happen and they should be corrected.

4. Only post in midi format. You can use Finale or Sibelius or any editor that you have to harmonize, but always convert your piece back to midi, so you can make sure that everyone can hear your work.

I'd also say you could use probably use any instrumentation you like. I've used piano to be generic.

Good luck, and have fun.

Well, your harmonized piece should be exactly in sync with the melody. You can't change the melody if that is your question, as that would defeat the purpose of harmonizing. If you want to add a few versions, sure I don't see why not, just attach your multiple files with your post. Everyone probably will let you know which file they think is the best.

Well ok then. Here's my harmonization, for brass sextet. First I presented the theme, then I did the harmonization, and then I added a little ending, to make it more like an actual piece.

Here's mine. It's a bit clumsy, but it works.

Nice work Letehn and BitterDuck. though i would change the end in both of your harmonizations.
Here is mine anyway... i don't like it very much, but i guess i could improve it when i run out of stuff to compose.

Here's a simple one by me. The MIDI one is fairly standard, while the audio version has fairly nice samples and really funky reverb!
