If you look at it, that's really only creatively changing the tempo. Your harminization sounded very beautiful by the way, Nickthoven. Very creative.

tweak, Nickthoven did change the melody, not just the tempo. He inserted bits of his own about every two measures of the original melody, which effectively eliminates some of the difficulty in creating good harmonic progression between those melody-notes. It was a nice harmonization, just didn't follow the rules.

Johann - All I did is create spaces between the highly obvious phrases of the melody. I did not change any notes of the melody. Ok, so I guess I didn't follow the rules. Are you going to arrest me?

Nope! I liked your harmonization. And I never finished mine...

I just thought it should be noted so that others won't think the rules say they can change the melody. That is, after all, the purpose of this subforum - to get people to be creative within the limits of the melody given.

Hah! I completely forgot I asked CaltechViolist to post this melody up!

Congratulations all for fine work and inventive ideas.

All very nice. I especially apreciate the harmonzation of Conqueso.
He created the great jazz-atmospher that the melody suggested
