Melody #16

Hi guys,

Long time no post. Just been listening to Gounod's Symphony 1. I particularly like a certain section from the 4th Movement/Finale, which made me feel like composing after a very long time! Just got this little melody and would like to see someone set it to piano in Violin Sonata form, or even into a symphony! I hope I have authorization to post melodies. Anyhow, have a listen.

Regards
Pravin

Actually, only mods are allowed to post melodies.

Hey all,

Cheers to mike for fixing my posting problem! Was meaning to post this earlier but there was a problem - gave me a chance to revise and edit a few things before posting! Btw, really impressed by the versions you guys did! I had a completely different idea of where I was going to go with this melody, but its interesting to see how other people intepreted it. Thanks for giving my melody a go!

This took me about 10, or more realistically 12 hours (with revelatory listening included lol ) to compose over three days. Worked in more or less three hour brackets for the majority of the stuff but later editing, revising and layering with other instruments varied from 5 minutes to an hour. Some of the parts are still pretty sketchy - parts of the flute part, the cello parts and bassoon parts are lacking in originality/need tidying up. I also am not very skilled at using dynamic variance to its full potential - I use pretty crappy notation software and its not good for that kind of stuff(still, it serves me well!). Nevertheless, I'm really happy with it! First attempt at mass-orchestration of this level of complexity. Also first time I experimented with percussion at this level too - probably overdid it with the tambourine, but I was feeling jovial at the time Hope you guys enjoy and please leave a comment. Ciao!

Regards
Pravin

Spent a few hours on this, still consider it a work in progress. I'd love to hear input, be it good or bad.
