another.........

this time midi files would ruin the whole thing. so if you wish to listen to it go to
LovizolMvsik - free MP3 music downloads on SoundClick

thanks!

(it is the first one - 2b - on the top)

by the way, maybe the beginning could sound somewhat puzzling because of the apparent 6/8 rhythm. the piece is in 4/4 and not in 6/8, so notice the correct bar head when the harpsichord and the other instruments start. just so you will be able to get the right impression of the flow and the melody won't seem displaced.

Hey everyone,

Frantz! Haha, you really are a machine. I am so flattered by your enjoyment of my melodies! I would never write anything but melodies if I had you to always flatter me hehe. I really enjoyed the FMIN5.mid. I think thats the one Marius thought was best as well; I'm not sure exactly what else to call it other than by the midi name because you have so many! I am trying to listen to the ones on soundclick but my internet is terribly slow at home - I'll check it out at uni. I thought FMIN3.mid was hillarious - I'm sure you were just having fun with it, especially right at the end - I'm no pianist, but that seems impossible to play! Melody No. 2B# on SoundClick I think is your best. Your counter-melody is in its own right beautiful - wonderfully harmonized - not dwelling too much on the melancholy feeling - which is inherent in the melody - and very Baroque sounding - while still mainting your individual flavour. Yes - you really allow this melody to flourish. A truly wonderful and expressive version, with a sufficient amount of propriety as well!

As for my own version, its on its way. I altered the tempo and note duration and wrote the beginning of a quartet which isn't too bad - it actually expresses the feeling I was going for which I still feel is quite is restrained in the currently posted melody. I decided to abandon that project though. As I have been coincidentally listening to a lot of Bach's preludes and fugues from the Well Tempered Clavier I have decided to write this melody as a piano prelude and write the fugue later on. Although I rarely ever look at scores for reference for ideas, I think if I am going to tackle a fugue, I may as well familiarize myself with Bach. This is going to take some time, if I'm to do a decent job of it, but its more that I have exams. Sadly Frantz, you and I will both have to wait for me to finish working on this piece and be ready to post some more melodies for your enjoyment .

Marius, would be great to hear a version from you! Haven't spoken to you lately but it would be truly an honour to have you write on a melody of mine! And !Mark! I look forward to hearing your version as well! The attention thus far has been terribly flattering, thank you all. Speak to you all in the near future - I have not been able to log on for a while, nor will be able to for the next month as frequently, due to exams. Ciao for now,

Pravin

hi friends! there are TWO new versions for Upstart's melody, say, maybe one and half, because the 2nd is the same as the 1st plus a bass. but i think they are very different regarding the final effect. they are the 2 upper pieces (#2d versions 1 and 2) at

LovizolMvsik - free MP3 music downloads on SoundClick

cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, call me a machine heheheheh, but i couldn't resist making a finale for this set of variations which i might name "Upstart Suite" heheheheh. it's at

'Pravin Menon's Melody #2e - Finale allegro' by LovizolMvsik - SoundClick song info

(finale allegro)

i think that this time its midi can bear any change of sonority in other computers, but i am not sure, because i used an interesting blend of ocarina and clarinet for the melody resulting in an exotic atmosphere. anyway here it goes.......

hey Upstart, i'd like to thank you for this wonderful opportunity for exercising music. you have a strong sense of tonality which allows for many variations upon your lines, a sense that lacks in me. so i learned a lot just working on this melody! thanks really! ...... and hurry in posting a new melody or you are in serious risk of seeing more versions appearing here hahahahahahahahaah!

have a nice day !
