Yeah, Villette's sort of the main idea here - this was my exercise in his style.

hi Lee. yes 2 voices in canon and 2 free. i love all kinds of counterpoint. my influences come from gothic till baroque and a little touch of classic and contemporaries - just a little. love a lot Ars Antiqua and Nova, many renaissance composers and above all Haendel, Bach ........ and Mozart's operas, even if these cannot be taken as an influence for my works in terms of style, but yes because his way of change the moods in a glimpse.

when i heard this melody, i immediately recognized it from Schubert's unifinished Symphony 8, second movement, i am afraid that i cant harmonize this, since i have heard the symphony already, but, it's an interesting choice, it's interesting to hear all of your variations on it, but it's definitely from Symphony 8

Well, luckily I'm not familiar with this melody - didn't recognize it - and started work on it last night before reading the thread - (thankfully).

Here's mine. Although it looks like the jazz thing has been done already, mine is a little more of an old school treatment. That pesky little A natural was no fun at first, but after I figured out what do with it (that one measure and the ones adjacent to it took about an hour), I've decided that without it, I would have ended up with something not nearly as nice. The second A natural in the ornament was more of a fly in the ointment. I consider it the weakest part of this reharm.

Somehow I missed Mahlertitian's comment in December.

Actually, as I pointed out earlier, this is the beginning of the Andante un poco mosso from the Schubert's Piano Trio in B-flat D899. Right composer, wrong piece.

That's a really nice variant, leightwing.
