Hey guys,

Lol relax we needn't bicker. Thanks Mark for having a go at it! It was very pleasant! My ears wanted to hear more! Hopefully you will give the rest of the piece an attempt at harmonization. Did you get a chance to listen to my flute/oboe duet in my own attempt at harmonization? Personally I enjoyed your cadences very much, very different to how I would have done it but very well suited to the melody. I was transported Thank you,

Regards
Pravin

I think potentially it could work. I liked the Baroque version Mark posted, but the raised fourths in the melody are too classical for the whole thing to be convincing. I shall have a play this evening and try a more classical transcription. I think I'll put it into the minor to make my version sufficiently different, and allow someone who really knows what they're doing to write a decent one.

Smile Arrangement for Woodwinds, Contrabass and Piano

Mark's melody was quite pleasant. It seems natural to have chords on the cadences since this melody definately has a strong rhythm.

The syncopation of Pravin's melody is one of the things I like best about it, especially around 0:47.

Here's my take, I went for a more modern arrangement, especially around 0:26, and 0:47.

Melody - Piccolo 1
Accomp - Piccolo 2, Flute, Piano, Bass Clarinet, Contrabass

Edit: Thanks CA for noticing the out-of tune issue. Below is a corrected version.
Edit: MP3 version (better sounding) Piccolo Sonata - eSnips, share anything

I uploaded the midi and posted a link to the mp3.

I finally tried this and it came out okay.. I did flute and harpsichord like Mark (I really like his simple harpsichord harmony, it sounds very traditional), only I made the harpsichord a bit more "virtuosic."

By the way, KSP, I really like yours a lot. It sounds as if it were out of tune, but it works very well for some reason.

I found it. Quite enjoyable. I think I might try my hand at it, but I guarantee it will be much different than those posted.
