MIDI Playback Problem

A few weeks ago I realized that on Finale 2006, only the SoftSynth sounds would play: the MIDI ones wouldn't. This didn't happen with just Finale either: Scorch won't play back anything (although you can see the score) and neither will MIDI Notate (they all have MIDI playback.) MIDI files do play on Windows Media Player, though.

What's wrong?

On Finale click on the Midi pull down(on the top), then select Midi setup, and you can change the device that plays whatever from softsynth to Default Midi Output or that other thing that says something like, Microsoft output device. Be sure to change it back to softsynth though.

Well duh... what I was saying was that it doesn't play back when I put it on Default Midi Output.

Does it play when you record it? Because if so, then there's really no need. The only thing I can think of is that you could of somehow screwed up your midi output. You might have to re-download it off of Microsoft.com, that's where you can find it most likely, but I'm too lazy to check for you. I'm not sure if that's the problem, so sorry I can't really help you then.
