This is a piece I composed a while ago.

I played some motifs into the midi keyboard which I was planning to turn into a piano piece. Turns out it became a work for flute strings and piano. It is called "Migration" and is based on a book I read in highschool called Fly Away Peter.

It pretty much stays within the tonal center. There are basic tonic to dominant relationships in the piece as a whole but I did try to vary the flute part which is more expressive. I'm not sure whether you could say this piece is impressionistic...

I'd call it impressionistic, I can feel the fluttery birds in the fluttery notes. Similarly, I can't pick out much of a melody, so I think your classification is correct.

The nearly-mechanical sound of the piano works well with the monotony of the voyage, I think.

I like the rising drama at around 3:00 or so. I might continue it and make it bolder yet.

And the end seems a little cut-off, but that's about it.

Nice work!

very interesting atmosphere and lovely harmonies. the piano and flute parts are specially nice. as for the end, you could just gradually slow down the fast notes and the tension till the mood becomes more peaceful and still, similar to the beginning. so you would create a nice arch-form which is quite effective as structure
