Miles Davis

Downloaded 'Kind of Blue' last night.

It's brilliant, a must have for anyone who remotely likes jazz.

Miles Davis is my hero, he pushed Jazz to the limit and took part in the invention of SO many sub genres, like Cool Jazz, Modal Jazz and even Jazz Fusion. He's a must listen for anyone who's interested in Jazz or even Atonal/Avant Garde music. The best soloist to ever pick up a trumpet, check this out, this is the best video I ever found of his signature Modal Jazz number "All Blues".

YouTube - Miles Davis (steve allen show 1964) all blues

Miles was certainly a true innovator - never standing still. By the time the rest of the musical community caught on to what he was doing, he'd moved on. Pioneered pretty much every advance in jazz from the late-50s onward.

That record (Kind of Blue) is certainly a highlight - stellar lineup; Trane being the perfect foil for the subdued Miles...

Probably the best jazz album of all time. Unbeatable solos.
