Minuet

I am required to write a minuet for class this week (Thursday actually) and during a sleepless night last night I began work on it.

I am quite pleased and impressed with what I came up with in the 4 hours I worked on it. The only thing I am a little concerned with is the key change from G sharp minor back in to B major and then straight into E major.

It might be ok, it might not be but have a listen and please comment.

I know its fairly simple for those who think I could do more with it but the class was given three options, write one from scratch, write one using the 2 bar melody provided or harmonize the lecturer's one. I chose the first one so I think I can be excused.

Well, my computer wouldn't play it, but i took a gander. It looks pretty good. I do think you should do a little more with it. make a more moving piece than that. It's just too simple for my liking. Use less repeats, don't make it copy itself so much.

I agree it is quite simple. I might look into this if I get a second. As for the repeats. I am only following the structure given by my lecturer.

(For the record: Yes, I know the Viola is in Treble. I can't stand Viola clef and always use Treble until the work is fully finished so I can check my harmony.)
