Monthly Composing Contest

I saw this on another forum, and I liked the idea; why not hold a mini composing contest every month? Nothing serious, like the Symphonic Competition or anything, but just a little contest for fun.

If you have in mind a contest without in-depth judging or reviewing, then it sounds doable provided we have monthly interest. If not, then I think our present competitions system would work better.

Sounds like something more doable especially for composers with less experience (like myself).

All right, cool. But we can't start now; how about during the first two weeks of March, we submit our compositions, during the third week, we submit our votes, then on the last week of March, we select a winner based on the votes?

okay, what sort of criteria/scale are we looking at?
