MOZART: Listening Contest #2:

~ Mozart #2 - Listening Contest ~

Contest URL

The First Piece is now up!

They are not in any particular order this time, however they are more difficult and longer
Sorry for the excessive download time, but you'll need the extra ten seconds!

I will tell you that there may be one or two very deceiving clips out there somewhere.

Friday, February 16, 2007, 11:43 pm:

Welcome to the second and final Mozart installment in the series!

Please take your time, enjoy yourself, learn something, but take this opportunity to improve your Mozart knowledge! I hope you learned something last time!

Here's how it works:

(1) - I will then post one piece about every day. Participants must PM CreationArtist their guesses to the title (A nickname, i.e. "The Prague Symphony" along with a movement number will do for the name, otherwise I want for example "Horn Concerto No. 3; Movement 2." The movement number [if applicable] must be included.) and also the composer (--haha, just kidding ... again ). You will receive NO response telling you if you got it right or wrong! You must wait until the competition is over to see the standings of all participants. A participant is defined as anyone that has a score above "1." Three days after the final piece is posted, round one is declared over and no more answers will be accepted for any reason.

Note that I will not accept K numbers this time!

(2) - At the start of round two, randomly chosen questions about Mozart's life will be posted. Three days later, no more answers for either round will be accepted.

New Round!

Round Three (Mini Bonus Round)

- After both rounds end, I will post one main phrase along with three others (Continuation A, Continuation B, and Continuation C). Then (pay attention to the names of the files as you listen to them, because they will tell you which answer they are), you may choose the one continuation that follows the main phrase in whichever piece it is from (undisclosed).

The correct continuation may follow the main phrase anywhere from 0-30 seconds after the end of the main phrase.

I will post a new set after a couple of days. Three days after both have been uploaded, the Listening Contest is officially over and I will post the results as soon as they have been completed.

Scoring:

Scoring is simple, one correct answer to a round one question (naming the piece) is worth three points, and one correct answer to a round two question (trivia) is worth two points. And I almost forgot, scoring for the new section is one bonus point for each right answer (small, but fair).

The only posts in this forum shall be any questions or comments anyone should have. Spam is stricly forbidden (this includes giving away answers)! The winner will hold personal fame, glory, and pride (sorry, no money is involved considering that our
->[internationally famous] sponsors ditched us at the very last moment).

Good luck . . . and I hope your learn something else!

The K. numbers are the best means of identification

I like the extra information about the piece.. title, what kind of piece (optional, but including "Piano Concerto" of course), and also the movement number. Also, I'd have to go back and find out the K. numbers for each of the pieces in my answers file. It's fine if you give me a K. number, but I think it's easier for both of us (since you most likely remember "Piano Concerto 19; first movement, rather than K. "whatever" EDIT: 459).

I don't really care as long as you participate.

Listening Contest competitions are now going to be in the form of a program which I am working on.

When it's finished, it will be hosted and an announcement will be posted.
