MP3 different than playback in Finale 2006

When I use playback within Finale 2006 everything sounds exactly like I want it to, but when I compress it to mp3 or put it in wave my Alto voices are turned into what sounds like a synthesizer and some of my volume notations are ignored. On top of that my cello in running 16th notes is all slurred together and not crisp. Is this a sound card issue? If so, why would it play fine in Finale but not in wave or mp3? Once this problem followed into Finale and then disappeared upon restart.

I'm running a pc, 2 gig ram, 2.6 ghz duel core, onboard sound, vista home premium 32bit.

I tried adjusting the sound outputs and recompressing from there, no luck. In theory if it can play in Finale is should be able to play outside of it right?

When you select save as .wav, it should record however it sounds on the playback, so I don't know why this is. Try tweaking with your midi options. When you say it sounds like a "synthesizer", do you mean midi? If so, make sure you have it on smart music softsynth. That's in the midi setup menu. (Although I don't know if this is your solution.)

Try reinstalling, upgrading, or finale tech support if nobody in these forums can help. Good luck.

It's really odd. It's works fine with the other piece that I wrote and playback in all forms is fine, but this one won't cooperate. When I save as a wave I am getting all buzz, by buzz I mean it sounds like it's cranking out waaaaaay too much gain and it's all distorted and much too loud. But when I playback what I just saved in finale right after that it sounds fine. Compressing into mp3 just gives me the same ole problems as before.

I've tweaked the midis every way I can and it's still a problem. The settings are currently on the soft synths, but I have tried all others (only after this problem happened though.)

Yes, when I say synth I mean it sounds like an old school midi instead of alto ahh's.

I'll try reinstalling next and then upgrading.

Thanks for the suggestions, any others would be appreciated as well.

See if making a new file and pasting all of the parts into that new file will work. I noticed that sometimes there are a lot of bugs when you save an older file with a newer version of Finale.
