Smile Music to the Corpse Bride trailer

A little while ago i had my first go at writing music to a short movie clip. I decided to write the music to this corpse bride trailer, as it originally used a piece of music not composed by Danny Elfman, so I had a go at writing something i think is a little more fitting to the trailer!

I don't know if i'm allowed to post links, but this video can be found on either:

My website: Jubbliful.com

or

Youtube: YouTube - Corpse Bride - Soundtrack written by Maz

You can also find other music i have written on my website.

First off, welcome to YC.

The corpse Bride piece is very well executed and fits very well.

I also checked out one of your guitar videos and will say you are very cute!

I'm not hitting on you since I am much older than you. lol

The three note progression you use in Existence are the same ones I used in a piano piece that I wrote years ago and have forgot how to play. Today, before I listened to your piece, I refound part of the score on an old computer and am slowly updating it.

You should orchestrate that song along with the guitar, it blends itself nicely.

Welcome again

Ron

Hey, thanks for your kind words, and thanks for looking at my other songs/pieces.

Its strange you should say that, because i recently i had a go at playing existence on the piano, and i really liked how it sounded, so my plan is to write that song again for piano, string quartet and acoustic/electric guitar. Trouble is, i have no time to do anything during university, especially as its my final year, so thats going to have to wait, along with many other ideas!

I'd really like to hear your piece when you have updated it!

I just listened to it...it's extemely good! You are very creative and I looked at a few of your other videos with the flute and the guitar...you are very talented. God gave you a gift and you are one of the people that remembers to use it.

I didn't think it worked too well. I felt like it was somewhat boring - same key area, tempo, and general texture the entire time. I also feel like there was too little movement.
Especially for a trailer, the music should really captivate you. I don't feel that this did that at all.

I won't say that you were completely off the mark, but when rescoring a movie that has a perfect soundtrack, you're gonna have a tough time.
