My Disney Arrangements

Hello there I'm thinking of directing a Disney show at university next year, I just need an idea for the show (i.e. to make it more than merely a concert - ideas welcome!). I've already started the music for it, though. Even if the show doesn't happen we can still use the music at various other events.

As it'd be a Jazz Society event, my arrangements are more on the jazzy side than musical. I was greatly inspired by Kenny Ball's disney dixieland recordings, in case you were wondering. Anyway, the point of this thread is to get feedback - both the layout of the scores and the music itself. The arrangements are flexible and vocals could easily be added to any of them, although I've left them out for now. I'll be adding new songs as I do them!

Hope you enjoy

Completed songs:
Under the Sea
Bare Necessities
Heigh Ho
Hakuna Matata
Circle of Life

Ummm before I comment on the music....this has already been done professionally.
Check out On the Record (musical) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Its kinda like what you are talking about, but on a bigger scale.

These are nice arrangements, and I feel the jazz, but I feel you didnt add anything.
Also you have a little trouble with the legality of this situation.
I mean I like them, I guess for what you want to do, its fine.

Good luck, and check out Disney's On the Record!!

Hello.

Firstly, I know it's been done a number of times... like I said, I was encouraged to do it when I heard Kenny Ball's versions which are pretty similar.

I know all about the legality of the situation - I've just finished a law degree. However, that doesn't stop me from doing it anyway. The likelihood of Disney intervening is very low and if they do the worst they can do is tell me us stop (unless we pay royalties), or take our profits if the show's been done.

If you think the music's fine then that's great. It's a good start, at least. As you mentioned I haven't really tried to do anything superly original, but I'll think about it if the show becomes likely to happen. Actually, did you listen to Hakuna Matata? I went off on a bit of a tangent in the middle of that. Thought it was quite nice

Thanks for your comments!
