Well, my turn to submit something. Here are 2 of my songs (probably the only ones i ever really finished).
The first one (desert) is a sort of a dance from the 3rd movement of my first symphony. I will attach a midi file only.
The other one (Waltz_of_the_Forest) is the first thing i ever wrote (when i was 14). I'll notice that the harmonization is very dumb, but you may like the tune anyway.
So enjoy and add ANY comments at all.
Thanx in forward!

Wow! i really liked those! my favorite was the Waltz one. I love the bells and drums in that one! it was really good. However, i have a few minor suggestions for you: I think that the song has too many changes (from loud to soft then to loud again)...(and it the whole echo thing happens too many times). Basically, i'm saying it's just a little too dramatic. But, if you plan on changing it, don't change it drastically because i really do love the song! And my only other complaint is the ending....it comes way to suddently. You need to ease into it....in my opinion.

Now, for the Desert song. I don't like how it turn circus-like every now and then (like at 0:23 and 1:00 for example). I think the song should remain spooky and eery. The circus thing kind of throws the whole thing off...at least i think so. but, the ending was better on this one. It was still abrupt but much better.

Great job! I really really like them! Keep composing.

Nice pieces! I liked the waltz better as well, very energetic. You wrote this when you were 14?! Great, now I feel even more behind... Anyway, I thought it was very energetic, even through the flute solo. I did think that the flute solo could've used some accompaniment but it was a very pretty melody, so it worked. I admire your use of percussion; I have no idea how to do that so well. It was really fun to listen to, though I agree with PianoGirl that the ending was a little abrupt. Overall it reminded me of a score to a movie like Lord of the Rings or something.

The next one was interesting, I liked the beginning a lot. I liked the vamp-like bits around :23 and 1:03 a lot. I loved the strings, but the flute sounded a little strained. The ending sounded like a transition, possibly into a major key, which was really cool. I really liked this one a lot too. Great music!

Thanks for the critics so far they are far better then I expected!
To pianoGirl - Yeah i know that it may sound a little too dramatic, but it's because i used a program that makes it sound so. If it were a real live performance it would probably better and a little more balanced.
And about the ending I really don't know how else can i make. The first option on the ending was even more sudden. So, if you have any other ideas about that ending tell me cause i'm fresh out.

And i'm glad you liked Desert! And i know it should be spooky but there is actually a story behind it - and you'll probably think it's funny but it's about a Sucubi in a form of a beautiful girl and she dances to seduce a rich arabian guy (could be a sultan) who holds her captive. And in the end she take back her true form (and you can imagine what happens after....). So thats why i put the little circus thing around 0:23 and 1:03.
Wierd, huh?

The waltz was pretty neat, but I have to say my favorite was the desert. It was abrupt; however, it works, so good job =D

Hi Wolf 88, do you still have pointers to this? I would like to have a chance to listen to it too.

Thanks,

Serge
