National anthem of Fredonia II

Hi all young and old composers, young at heart!

This is the orchestral version of my:

Version two of "National anthem of Fredonia" (heavier version.)

"Ga-ther no-ow all people of Fred-onia-a,
Come together, to share a free donut!"

first 3 bars of the chorale.
(quiz: There is one error in the chord analysis of the first page, see if you you can discover it!)

picture 2. symbol of the dominant seven chord that lacks the prime tone.

The error - the 4th beat of the 5/4 bar has the same symbol you used earlier for the supertonic chord (presumably a ST? but looks like SP). If it is a supertonic, then you've neglected to note that there's a suspended 4th. Otherwise, it's a dominant chord in 2nd inversion with a suspended 4th. (This makes more sense, as the C does fall to a B.) Actually, to be fair, the mistake could be anywhere - I can't really decipher half of these weird symbols.

Your writing is horribly unclear, and 'stylised'.
The concept seems a little pompous, but the music itself is effective, if entirely clichéd, and despite the occasional error.
Not bad.

Thumbs up Suspended 4th...

Hi Daniel,

You are right about the suspended 4th. This is the error according to my piece of paper! Bravo!

Thanks for lending an ear,

Fred

The passage of Corelli clashes doesn't sound correct in this idiom, but the opening is pleasant (save the nasty inversion I'm sure I espied). I could easily imagine this being the National Anthem of some lesser-known country. What a great idea.

Cool Choirs...

The chorale actually sounds even better with choir voices added to the orchestra.

I'm thinking of purchasing "Symphonic choirs software", so I can have a broader symphonic picture to work with.

Thanks for your enthusiasm Zetetic,

Fred

Very....grand, for lack of better words. I think the piece itself could use a little more imagination, even if it supposed to be an anthem. But great sound! Don't stop!

When I hear this, I can see the Fredonia football team lined up making a bad attempt to hide the fact they don't know the words! They then go on to lose 5-0 to their opponents, England fyi (wait make that... 6-0)!

Excellent work, with suitably patriotic overtones. You should record somebody singing the lyrics too btw!
Enjoyed it very much
