I like it as a fragment; if I understand the type of mood you are trying to get at as regards as 'nereid', sort of capricious ethereal. I'd like to see it developed; maybe 50 such fragments woven together for all the Nereids? (I couldn't do it - but I like the idea); plus maybe some thing big and slightly scary to represent Nereus.

I'm not so sure about the chromatic run in the middle though, doesn't seem to fit with the rest of it, not the energy/rapidity so much but the regularity of a chromatic scale.

Hope I haven't missed the point.

A very nice piece as a theme for a Nereid, but i didn't like the glissando in the middle or rather it was a bit too long... just didn't make much sence when it goes for so long, disturbing the original mystical theme. It's very beautiful anyway, and maybe you can try using the higher tones on the harp to make it even better (if you plan to).

Ok, I'll fix that. Yes, I originally imagined it as a fragment, but I wasn't sure how to go about composing the rest of the music. 50 fragments?! I don't have the patience to do that!
