Critical Notice
It's not an actual work, but a website that features a lot of today's British new composers. It has a couple of pieces for each composer and you can download them in mp3 format for less than £1/mp3, plus you can hear extracts of all the pieces and also read the respective program notes written by the composers themselves.
I think it's a really great site for those who want to hear some more contemporary music but can't find any. The cheap prices also make it easier for people to download music that is otherwise hardly available (I wouldn't possibly be able to find such recordings back in Athens..).
Another site which functions in a similar way is BMIC (British Music Information Centre),
British Music Information Centre , which has more information on the composers and their work than Critical Notice, and it has a few extracts of recordings and scores as well (for those interested in the scores).
Enjoy!
