Number one- What would you write for a sextet that you can't write for a quintet?

Number two- Yes, I would keep the limit to eight instruments, so no more than eight, and preferably not eight.

On one note- I will be judging the pieces based on five parameters-

1) Melodic intrest- Can you convey a melody in a way to let me understand it completely?

2) Harmonic intrest- How intresting are your chords? Fillers? Other noodling that adds to the piece?

3) Progression- how do you take me (the listener) places, and can you keep my intrest?

4) Instrumentation- How do you make use of the instruments that you have chosen? How widely do you use special techniques to keep me intrested.

5) How well does it match the theme (New Years)?

If the other judges are still alive, I advise that you use this system too, so that we are on the same page. If the other judges are here, please leave a comment...?

Since the other judges haven't responded, I am taking full responsibility to do judging. I hate relying on other people that you can't rely on

I'm working on something, but was...disrupted this morning (no, not by sleeping in ) so I could work until 4 or so. I can probably finish the piece by 10 if I really had to, but since few people are entering, why not let me have a couple more hours ?....and everyone else as well, of course
