Talking New York Philharmonic performance report.

I'm new around here but I though I should share this. Today, the New York Philharmonic performed my piece along with two other high school students during their School Day concert. It was quite an experience having your piece played for all your colleauges and students. It was amazingly done! Made some great contacts too.

The score is posted for those that are interested.

Justin Tokke! I recall your name from the Sibelius Forums from quite a few years ago. I was just a lurker or sorts, but it's cool to see you've been doing well with yourself as a composer. So how'd you land this gig?

Through the Making Score program of the New York Youth Symphony. The director, Derek Bermel knew the education director. All about connections isn't it?

No. It was for their school day concerts. Delta David Gier was the conductor and he did a preaty good job despite all the time changes etc. Though I think Maazel would have a bit of trouble with it, perhaps a bit too "modern" or rather "present-day" for him. But I have no problem with that.

Lucky? Well, yeah! Lots of it! I never expected this when I moved to NYC.
