Not the End

Hey everyone,

This year Santa brought me Cubase Studio 4, so I was very eager to cook something up and share it with you all. What I've got for you is a short cue that was mixed completely with Cubase and utilizes some of Cubase's instruments (although all the instruments, aside from the synth pad, are EWQL). I was going for a sort of future/epic type feel with the cue, and I feel that I reached my goal.

Also, please forgive the lack of dynamics, articulation, etc. on the score. Aside from the notes, it's completely barren. I've only included it so you guys can follow along!

-Not the End-

Anyways, please enjoy and comment

Does sound quite apocalyptic. Was that the emotion you were hoping to convey to listeners?

Sir Violinist,

I was in fact trying to create that feel - or at least in a sense. Maybe not apocalyptic, but more so a coming together to triumph over what could've been an apocalyptic event, perhaps. This isn't really written for anything, so there is no set scene, and I didn't compose it with one in mind. But I guess to formally answer your question, I was going more for a pre-triumphant/post-catastrophic type deal!

I see this as being underscoring for a game like Metroid- very mysterious and spooky... you even use the synths in a similar fashion to the Metroid composer (I don't know thier name ). It was very good! I liked it!

Ok, so I was just fiddling around with this theme on the piano a little bit ago, and I got a bunch of ideas to expand it with. I'll work on it and post it up again once it's done, but still feel free to comment/critique.
