Hello again. Just thought I'd post this piece to get some general views on it and maybe a few suggestions. I don't really know what to say about it other than it's meant to be pleasant and it's for 2 violins, viola and cello!

That would make it a string quartet. It is pleasant, but it rambles (melodically, that is) goes into minor - then comes back. Some dynamics and articulation would help. Try singing some of the lines. What do you notice? Did you run out of breath trying to sing those melodies?

Yes, even though the violin player technically doesn't need to breath with the melody, the listener does. It's not a rule, just a rule of thumb.

Do you play a string instrument? Just curious.

I know it's a string quartet But I wanted to stretch the word count of my post because I had nothing else to say!

I don't play a string instrument, no. I'm afraid the articulation and dynamics are not very noticeable because the default settings on Sibelius between f and p are not very great... I can always change it later though.

In what way do you consider the melodies to ramble (I did sing them & didn't run out of breath)? Is there anything inherently wrong with going into a minor key then coming back?

Tx for your comments
