"Obsession" for four hands, in C minor

Composed this today.

Quite frankly, I'm not very pleased with it. Yet I like what I managed to do with rhythms.
I still feel I could've gone a lot further.

It's obsessive, the theme and the accompaniment keep reappearing, as if that singular thought would never leave the person's mind. No climax, either.

Well, here it is.

And here's the score (a bit dirty).

I like this composition. To me it does capture a mood of obsession quite well and does have a lot of rhythmic interest. The ending is not bad but perhaps not the strongest part although I don't have a suggestion on how to end a piece with this mood in a better fashion.

The piece does have a structure made up of short motives that repeat. That creates the mood. But possibly putting in a longer slower middle section would allow some further exploration of the main themes.

For one day of work it is really quite good.

I like this piece a lot. It's quite obsessive, indeed. There's not much, musically that I had any problems with, but at around bar 123, it's relatively messy. There are 16th rests all over the place, and that part in particular would be hard, rhythmically to read and play. I think that part needs to be cleaned up.

Edit: Oh, you already know it's messy. Then there's no point for this comment.

Good job, anyway.

Wow! this was fantastic! it sounded filmy but very very moving, i rather liked how it seemed like it could fit right into i movie. you seem to have a good grasp at writing for piano, and your transitions were all smooth. i also like how it was calm yet chaotic at parts, gave your title strong meaning. good job mate

I dig your style, man. I found this to be one of the least boring works on this forum. . . you definitely know how to keep the listener interested. The attention to dynamics is excellent, and I really like the use of extended diminished harmonies.

To sum up: sexy.

Just listen to "Harmpit" and tell me that it doesn't make your bowels shake at least a little. I dare you.
