Well, I had this piece in Writer's Block, but as it's complete now, I suppose I should post it here now.

This is an orchestral piece that started as a melody on the piano. I liked the sound of it on the piano, so I kept the piano as an opener to the piece. I was working on this for a few weeks on-and-off. It doesn't have any particular structure, besides what came to me next.

This was inspired largely by John Williams' Harry Potter theme, although the things I wrote at the top of the staff paper as I was writing it down were words such as "bar, night, pirates... "

Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and as always, all comments, harsh or kind, are appreciated!

It's well done, really. You clearly know some theory, and all that. It also was very strongly influenced by the Harry Potter theme, as you noted. That said, the intro made me think of medieval minstrels or something, mostly because it's in 6/8, and has that constant bass tone. But it quickly gets modern, with the piano arpeggios, and the virtuosic flute line, and whatnot. I thought it ended rather abruptly, on the second degree. I'll just put that up to artistic license. It could use a secondary theme, fo sho.

If you're inclined, you might have a look at String Soundtrack...
