Exclamation Pan's Labyrinth - Original Soundtrack

Hi everyone,

I'm about to present you with the soundtrack to a movie. It's by the acclaimed film-maker Guillermo del Toro. As with all of his films, this one is innovative, evocative, engrossing and completely amazing.

The movie is in Spanish and is described as follows:

""Pan's Labyrinth" is the story of a young girl that travels with her pregnant mother to live with her mother's new husband in a rural area up North in Spain, 1944. After Franco´s victory. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much chagrin. Post-war Fascist repression is at its height in rural Spain and the girl must come to terms with that through a fable of her own."

The purpose of this post though is not to advertise the movie, but the soundtrack. Because even without seeing the movie, this soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks that I have ever heard. And coming from me, that's saying something.

You can listen to the whole thing online at the first link below. If you want the CD, check the second link. I would recommend tracks but I was so completely engrossed by it that I didn't even notice the numbers go by - it was fantastic; completely mesmerizing.

Eh, i've heard better. It's certainly a decent effort, but the program music of Frederick Delius, which this soundtrack reminded me a lot of (don't ask me why! This is why I make the comparison to a concert work, though), creates a much more effectively magical and mysterious atmosphere.

Oh, and i'm actually going to see this movie. The premise is interesting, but I suspect it'll be another bastardization of an ancient myth.

EDIT: From the creator of ''Hellboy''... Should I just not watch it at all?
