Well the technical definition of plagerism is taking something that someone else created and calling it your own, however, you could not just put a dot over the nike symbol and call it your own. This is because a court will consider this plagerising due ot the fact that this new symbol could be easily mistaken for the nike symbol.

I read that thread on accidental plagerism in the off topic forum Here's the link if anyone wants to look, it's a very good point.

http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/Accide...rism-t1433.html

So what I think chad was getting at is that while of course you didn't take a classical composer's piece and called it your own, you accidentally made it similar enough to have it be mistaken for one of their pieces, just like the nike symbol

P.S. I don't spell my name with an x, that is sooo hokey!

Overall, that was GREAT, really. I don't know what other people saw in it about Haydn and Mozart, because I see nothing but Beethoven (which is awesome.) Some remarks:

1. You did something I enjoyed a lot but that would put grumpy old composition teachers riping their hair off: the music always goes on and on and on, with no real sense of different "parts" in the movement (those kinds of divisions are blurry.) I really liked it myself, tough.

2. The cadenza sounded a little like a piano sonata. I think it should have been more free and modulating, in free form. From the quality of the solo part, I presume you're a pianist yourself (and one of the goods, I bet.) Try improvising a cadenza at the piano while rolling a tape recorder. Then, transcribe what you hear from the tape (well, more or less, if you want to) to your music notation software.

By the way, I hope you post your 25th Piano Concerto in E minor that you considered a masterpiece: I am ANXIOUS to hear it. It must be very special if you did it when you were ten.

Thank you so much for your comments! My composition teacher did give me a lecture about what you said...-_-. You know best, lol. The cadenza is a lil piano sonata-ish. I could improvise a really good cadenza (not in a snobby way, i hope that didn't come off arrogant), but the whole tape recorder, which i have, and the transription. That all takes time...i'm very lazy. Not when it comes to music usually, but...since im not finishing that concerto, i'm just writing down all the suggestions for the next concerto.

My 25th piano concerto to me now is absolutely terrible. I mean it was great when i was 10, but now its just...bad.

You see, with every passing piece that I write, it gets a LOT better. It's like months of progress in weeks! This is actually a bad thing. Because "I don't like anything I write unless it has been written in the last 5 minutes". Somebody once told me. It's actually true. (the 5 minutes was a bit of an exaggeration...its really like 2 days-1 week) pathetic huh?

Nope not all.(I go through with the same issue )

Also are you a chopin/grieg and focus most of your efforts on the piano? What other works do ya got? Like a symphony or chamber work?

30 Symphonies, working on my 19th String Quartet. 1 Piano Quartet, 2 Piano Trios, 49 Piano Sonatas, (well....48), 13 Klavierstucke, 5 Inventions, 5 Etudes, 5 Waltzes, 4 Operas, 1 Clarinet Sonata, 10 Violin Sonatas, 3 Violin Duets, 1 Requiem Mass, 2 Motets, 2 Clarinet Concertos, 5 Violin Concertos, and some odd chamber works, too.

Actually, I focus my work AWAY from the piano. Recently, I've just been writing for it. I do better with an orchestra...much much better.

Here I'll post the 1st movement of the symphony I finished a few months ago. If you want the other movements, I can email them to you.

LOL! Unfortunately for you, I wrote all 5 when I was like...hm...2002...10.

I was 10. So they're all gone .

I can write another one for you if you beg me, though lol.

I do have a few recent Violin SONATAS if you want them though.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Please mail me either a MIDI or the score to tomas.costa@netcabo.pt but don't worry if you don't find the time: I'm pacient

Oh, and if you DO write me a concerto, I will insert your name in my music school's "search for young musicians and composers." That will begin a chain of events which will make your compositions be played live by real musicians. Don't worry, they'll track you down

(But tell me if you're uncorfotable with that and I'll forget the concerto.)
