Hi, I'm new here^^

This is my first completed composition, and I'd love opinions on it! I don't know how to create a MIDI from it, if anyone could tell me that would be great!

But here's the pdf...

My Webpage

I really would love to know what you think, but be honest! If you loathe it I want to know exactly why.

Thank you!

Nice, You use Lillipond too! I would check out this thread:

Many people use Finale, but as I understand, it can be quite expensive. Finale Notepad is free, but you can't export MIDIs.

I personally use Jazzware. Its a opensource 16 track MIDI editor with a lot of nice features like piano roll. You can download it at: http://www.jazzware.com

Hmm...this is a nice little gem. If I were you, I'd try and experiment a little more with the ideas. I'm not particularly liking the D.C. al fine. You should cut that and variate on the first part, not repeat it entirely!

But, I really like the sound you've created. It's very light and crisp, and I'm sure would sound great in a live performance. Are you a cellist? You should put a recording up, even if it sucks.

Thanks!

I'll try Jazzware and see if I can create a MIDI file and post it.

Yes, I am a cellist...

You don't, silly. You play it with your left hand on the piano! I'm glad I have a laptop, it's sitting right on top of my piano.

Haha, oh...

Well, I don't play piano (very well), so that's out of the question.

Nevermind...

Well, I tried to create a MIDI file and concluded that it simply wasn't worth posting; since the program isn't smart enough for natural harmonics too many of the notes were completely wrong...though I suppose one would have the same problem playing it on piano(!).

I'd post a recording if I had a microphone for my computer...

I forgot that Jazzware stinks at producing natural harmonics for stringed instruments It does a much better job for the piano.

Does anyone else recommend another MIDI editor that produces natural harmonics for stringed instruments? Or is this one of the limitations of MIDI?

Neat piece Cello, I have a question when you switch to treble clef does it sound an octave lover than what it looks like? From what i know, you have to have tenor clef before you can have treble for the cellos if you want it to sound like the actual notated pitch.

Very interesting piece, best of wishes
