I work in a studio where we have a nice largish (75sqm/ 800sqft) room which would be perfect for a rehearsing (or, indeed performing!) chamber orchestra. But it never gets used. Which is a real shame. So firstly, is this something you would consider being in demand, and if so, how would we go about getting people in to use it? We don't charge much at all - from £9 per hour (maybe $15 or something) so is perfect for the stuggling students or something. It'd be maybe 50p each for an hour!

Help!

I'd say there is definitely a demand for such a place, just as there is for quality studio and recording space in general.

Have you thought about putting in a periodic advertisement in Criagslist? I don't know if you've heard of it...it's a networking/contact/classified-ad site rather popular in the US and Canada (headquartered in San Francisco, I believe), but they've gone international. I've never advertised on it myself, but I think it's free to advertise most things. Can someone corroborate that?

Here's the URL for the London site: http://london.craigslist.org/

There are also specific sites for Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcasle. That seems to cover most of the island.

I must confess -- I really like the fact that a Californian is busy telling a Brit where to advertise in his own country. Classy. I knew you were an Anglophile, Graham, but I never quite realised the extent... Now if we can just turn that into Canadiana before you move here...
