Well, I never thought my intention would come into question in such amazingly important way! But, yeah, I sticked more to the "traditional" stuff than modern. I've also done the opposite too (like the composers you mentioned) but dunno. I wasn't feeling like it when I wrote it, plus I wrote it for someone who enjoys this type of music (Bach, not Penderecki) and they were feeling shitty so I thought I'd make'em smile a little. :>

But that's not important to how it sounds, like you said. No amount of context changes the actual piece. But, hey. A little background on my reasons for writing it if you may be wondering why it's "not really that modern."
