Its a good piece.

I was immediately impressed by the textures (even thought the midi might not accurately portray the actual notation itself)

Good work

Although it isn't my favourite genre, I quite liked the piece. Well done with only 3 instruments. Have you some real-life players in mind? Because I think it would come over a lot better that Midi! but you'd have to sort out just a couple of practicalities (I reckon) where it gets a bit out of hand.

With anything other than Midi (unless you care to edit the list) dynamics could play a greater part in the effectiveness of this work.

cheers,
M

Hmm... First of all, I didnt like the harmonies one bit until around 1:20. It sounded very random and out of place. There was no connection between thematic material whatsoever.
After 1:20, has more interesting points. I liked the low piano bass line. Thats something I also do. But agin the harmonies, the thematic material were so fragmented that it was not possible to follow whats going on or what were you trying to do with them. I think compositionally, it lacks a lot.

hi Montpellier

thanks for the comments! yes i am considering a new software to render my pieces more pleasantly, maybe Sibelius and its Garritan Orchestra, which i have been hearing somewhere and found it amazing.

the dynamics ARE there but midi usually turns them flat.

have a nice day!

thanks for your comment Nightfly!

well, i know that my style is quite uncommon, but that's me. i don't feel confortable with the traditional way of developing themes and such classical forms. i like to just follow the flow as we do in common speech. i like surprises and unusual harmonies, although they are indeed strange. but even strange for me they are not out of place and the material transforms itself in a quite coherent way accordingly the need of the moment, not according to a pre-established pattern or structure. just try to follow the stream as you were walking along a river or playing soccer with your friends in a cheerful, dynamic and swift improvisation of actions towards the goal: the movement and the structure are different and new at every moment!!!

regarding your last statement i agree and disagree. if you are thinking in a sonata form you are right, but it is not the only way to compose. the composition is there, i do think compositionally too, even being the opposite to that classical and similar forms. you said "thats something i also do".... i think you shouldn't judge a piece as it was composed by yourself, but try to understand what other people do. otherwise any difference of style you would discard annoyed. this way you loose, not me.

best regards!

I think you got me wrong, ofcourse you can compose out of sonatta allegro form, but if you are going to be experimental you have to keep the balance in order for the auidience to atleas pick up somthing that they can follow. For example if you are going to use an experimental form, then make the melody or harmony more easy to listen. Or if you are going to introduce experimental melodies or harmonies make the form easy. But then again this just an idea, it's not the only way to do things.

Come on! I was just saying that I also do this. I wasnt judging your piece as I composed it. I havent even implied it, you simply got me wrong.
