Any chance you could post a link to a MP3?

I caught the link before it disappeared and have listened once so far. Do you want the sugar-coated response or the down and dirty?

The sugar-coated is that it is presentable.

Let me know if you want the truth.

I'll give my two cents, for what they're worth.

The score is presentable, there's no real problems there. Now for the music...

First off is the "Presto". It just doesn't seem very Presto! The first bit feels more like a majestic fanfare, with the beat as 85 (as opposed to 170). I'd say this is true up until bar 39, when the percussion kicks in. Fun timp part there by the way . I quite like the percussion passage, and the climbing idea after it. It definately seems to "go" to the next passage. Although I'm not too sure about the empty bar before the Allegro. It might be more effective just to go straight in?

I quite like the Allegro theme, although you could have developed it more. It's one of those themes that can be used to make about 5 minutes of music! Kind of as a result of this, the climax at bar 83 seems to come out of nowhere. You could develope the theme, sharing it between the instruments and modulating it, so that it really leads up to the whole band playing it. Also, when the climax does happen, I feel you end it too quickly...it's a great bit, so make the most of it! Imagine if Beethoven ended the finale of his 9th symphony 4 bars in...oh dear

Also, the repeated quavers at bar 90 could do with a bit more variation. Maybe have some arpeggios, or the theme happening over the top or something. I like the ending though.

Overall...It's a reasonable peice, and definately has alot of potential, and some interesting harmony. I just feel that you're too brief with some of the sections, and it could do with some variety and development of themes.

Hope I've been helpful, and not too harsh

Andrew
