Question Question about keyboard's sounds trasnfered to PC

Hello, I am wondering if is possible to use the sounds of a keyboard and transfer them or makes them sounds in a PC for record it? I plug my keyboard with a midi cable to my PC. So far is a No for me, but is there any possibility? I ask this because I would like to use some sounds of my keyboard without the need to record it with a mic (Cheap mic I have).

Midi won't cut it mate.

You will need to use the audio in... If your soundcard has such a thing. Alternatively the mic...

Midi will only transfer midi information, which is WITHOUT any sound.

If you do go with the mic solution, you can find some plug-ins from coctos (free) which will help you denoise the whole thing. But your best bet would probably be to try and emulate the sound with digital means (a digital synth, or something)

Thank you so much for your reply Niko. I was thinking that of midi cable won't transfer sounds but I was not sure. I will check that plug-in. Thanks for the reply!

Edit: Where can I find coctos?

go to KVR: Virtual Instruments, Virtual Effects, VST Plugins, Audio Units (AU), DirectX (DX), Universal Binary Compatibility - Audio Plugin News, Reviews and Community to the database and search for filters, or plug-ins, etc... You'll find the plug-ins there...
