Hi there,

Firstly i just want to say what a great place this is. Invaluable resource for muscians.

Now, onto my topic, Quick! To The Observatory.

Quick! could be best described as a instrumental jazz fusion band (in the loosest sense).
With influences ranging from Ennio Morricone to Squarepusher with some Mahavishnu Orchestra thrown in. Quick! span many genres, finding it difficult to describe themselves easily. Needless to say it's an interesting combination. With the band begining to establish itself in the Hull music scene shows are becoming more frequent. And with the band slowly gaining more members, it soon will be the 10 piece band envisioned.
Quick! pride themselves on creating a new song at every performance. With this in mind performances begin straight, but quickly descend into improvisation, a 30 minute song is not in-frequent.

We have 10 mins of material on our myspace page. One song splt into 4 parts.

Pleas leave comments eitehr here or on our page.

Thanks
Much Appreciated
Lou

Hi!

I listend to some of your, stuff and i can tell you im very impressed with what i heard! i dont know muuch about your style, s0 i cant offer any constructive criticism. But always i found jazz (acid? fusion?) very impressive. I especialy liked the drum work at the last part of the oricsus part 3, not to mention the virtuosic guitar the the first parts .
i listend to the easy oricsus part 1 too, and i admire very much what you do with so little! im truly impressed! the constant development keeps me listening all the time, and it never gets old event htough yourepeat the themes all the time. very good job! the only thing i didn't really fancy in this one is the electronic sound at the end... kinda not in the mood i think... is it really necessary?

As i said, i can't offer constructive ciriticism, since im not really familiar with this kind of music, but i hope my thoughts help!

Hi, thinks for those truly kind words.

With regard to the electronic 'noise interludes' that's because teh song was recorded in 4 seperate parts and we needed a way to join it all together. Also we've recently gotten a new member who'll eb doing this live using his laptop (aswell as some more stuff which is in teh pipeline).

I'm not actually that pleased with part 1 (and also part 4) because of sloppy guitar work on my part. But that can't be changed now, however we'll eb re-recording that to EP quality in about 2 weeks. This time the recording will also feature flute and clarinet.

The future for Quick! is growth member wise (looking for a jazz keyboard player aswell as a percussion player and possibly a sax/trumpet player). Also new material is being rehearsed at the moment, again long song with i think 6 or so individual sections, will more than likely be split up again.

But once again, thanks for those kind words, i'll make sure to pass on the compliments to the, drummer.

Thanks
Lou
