Lightbulb Quintet 1st Mvnt

This is the first peice I've posted in a while. It is really based on a motif that I introduce in the 3rd measure. I play with that quite a bit throughout the whole peice throwing it into different situations. Thats basically I can think of. Hope you like it.

I liked the beginning, made me want to start dancing! What instruments did you use? And I'd apprecciate if you'd check out my symphony explanation in writer's block!

Interesting, usually according to what I have seen, in a quintet, there are 2 violins 2 violas one cello, or 2 violins 1 viola 1 cello and one double bass or piano. Thanks for the Response.

Yours,
Sir Violin

FYI, one of the greatest string quintets, the Schubert C major, has 2 cellos. You are in good company, fegane! Anyway, I really liked this piece! So fresh and lively... original even! I like the combination of motivic economy with free-ranging tonality. You are not afraid to wander a bit, and that's great. Nice flow... the listener's interest is maintained because your material is so attractive.

I love the passage beginning at 3:34 (you've got a few strange little chords flying by there!), and it remains engaging til the very end. At first I wondered about the slow breaks between 3:10 and 3:34. But they are so weird, in an innocent kind of way, that I ended up liking them!

You have an individual voice, fegane, and with your material well in hand, you seem to know what you want to say. Yes, a questionable harmony or two along the way, but even they ultimately charm...Bravo!

Are you only 14??!! Yikes! No wonder your music sounds so joyous and spontaneous... you haven't learned the rules yet! LOL.

Thankyou camaysar,
and I added the slow break between 3:10 and 3:34 for 2 reasons. One was that I always try and go for a lot of contrast in a peice, like that a fast section always (in my mind) sounds better when its next to a slow section. The second reason for that entry was that I just wanted to bring back that melody, it would be rendered kind of usless if I didn't bring it back.

I know you really did not need to or want to know this but who cares.

Not a complaint or a criticism, but I'm wondering why you bothered with a key signature at all, seeing as how you contradicted it pretty much throughout the piece with copious accidentals.

I don't really know why I did at all. If I had a guess it would probably be because of habit.

Wow great piece. I mean such vigor, my kind of stuff!
I mean score clean up is needed, but overall very enjoyable to listen to.
