Quintet for winds

Okay, here is one of my smaller pieces. I haven't really put many dynamics in...

Oh and if anyone can think of a better name, that would be cool.

I hope you like it.

i do like it. I feel like i'm in the english countrysite whilest listening to this. It's short and not very developt, but for what it is it is nice. A little moment of relaxation.. Maybe you could try to develop it further.

Your score needs some work. It is customary for wind ensembles to have a transposed score, not a concert pitch score. Your dynamics make little sense and need to be consistently applied to each instrument. Your flute part is too low in some areas, and will be completely overshadowed by the other instruments. You have winds doubling each other (clar+fl, fl+ob, ob+clar) in many places, which defeats the purpose of having a quintet.

This could be a fine piece with some additional work and polishing. Keep at it!

Thanks very much for the insights! I'm quite new to composing and have never learned the finer and not-so-finer points of composing. So I'm here to learn and thats exactly what I'm getting. Fantastic! Thank you very much. I will work some more on it.

I think I'm going to call it "Arcadian melody".

Arcadian (besides being a place in Greece) means, "rural, rustic, or pastoral, esp. suggesting simple, innocent contentment." (from dictionary.com)
