Race to the Finish (A band piece)

Hey guys,

This next piece I wanna share with you is bascially a 2 and a half minute composition to act as background music to a race; whether thats on foot, in a car or any other way you can think of.

Before I start explaining the piece I just wanna say... yes... this has lots of weird rhythms and harmonizations. This was meant to be a marching show but I hate writing for percussion so I figured "why not concert band".

Now to the music-
To tell the truth the title is a little misleading. The actually race doesn't begin until measure 25. The soft section before 25 is supposed to be the anitcipation of the racers and the tension everyones feeling right before the gun shot that sets the racers in motion. The begining through the soft section is just an intro to the piece.

At measure 41 our favorite racer takes the lead! just before he is threaten by 2nd place.

At measure 68 the racers round the corner to come to the final sprint to the finish.
Will the racer you put money on come through! You decide!

Comments always welcome

Usually I am not much into band music because I miss the strings, but this works very well for your story.

The part before the racwe starts is quite nice and the percussion throughout works well also.

Good job

Ron
