recording each staff as a wav

I'm looking to record each staff separately as a wav file. I tried soloing each staff and recorded them individually but the recordings wind up being out of sync. Is there a better way to do this?

My wild guess is that, in order to get your method to work, you'd need to disable human playback, so that the tempos match. However, assuming you're using Finale or Sibelius, I have to say that you're using a program that really wasn't designed for this sort of thing. Depending on what you're trying to do, perhaps you'd have better luck exporting a MIDI and importing it into a sequencer of some sort (assuming that you have access to such).

I think the problem is my machine will hiccup a little during the recording process and throw everything out of whack. I want to import the waves into Cubase where I can amplify them and throw some effects on them. I'm not really familiar with working with midi in Cubase. (I'm using the softsynth drums and FM7 in finale)

nhomas is right - Finale is not an application particularly suited to achieving your desired end. However, since you can't use Finale GPO outside of Finale itself (at least, I can't; I would love to hear from anyone who knows how this can be done), it may be your only hope.

Try ticking "Don't Randomize" under Tempo Variations in the HP Preferences dialog. If it's still out of sync, you might try opening the output in a wave editor and removing any silence before the start of the audio. If it's still out of sync after that, I think you're out of options.

mars: I would strongly suggest you getting used to working with midi in Cubase. There's no excuse really! Just export the midi files from Finale and into cubase! It will be tons easier. Finale still remains a notation program and cubase a sequencers, and this is how things are!
