Rhythmic Piano Piece

I just sketched this piece out last night in a 3 hour inspiration bender, and now I'm stuck, I'd like some feedback on what you think of it and what I can do with it.

thanks, as always, for the help.

UPDATE

This is a revision of the initial piece thanks to the many kind suggestions I received. Still a work in progress, this piece has undergone a fair amount of change and I look forward to further comments.

I wasn't able to listen to it, but from looking at the score, I think that it will be very enjoyable and, if played correctly, very intense. About how fast is it suppose to go? The tempo could make or break it. The time signatures are INTENSE! I actually am sad that I can't listen to it...

Not being a composer I can't offer you any suggestions, but overall I enjoyed it.

Nice work.

I liked the piece as well. Just some cleaning up suggestions... maybe put the octave sign back above the notes on measures 51 and 55. Other than that, great job!

I LOVE THIS RHYTHM!

It almost feels like..(if the rhythm were put to drums) I'm at a pow wow or an african tribal dance. This is by far the must fun rhythm I have heard on the forum, great job.

I also thought had an excellent variety of chords (i.e. augmented major minor etc.). The chords are so diverse it almost feels on the border line between major and minor imo.

But there was 1 part I wasn't so fond of... that section from about :58-1:28 or m. 22-32 where the notes and similar rhythmic patterns are constantly repeated seemed to me to go on for a bit long and after a while a bit odd sounding. On a lighter note however, this is the only thing I have complain about this piece so..yeah.

If I were you I'd leave the piece the way (and length) it already is, the ending fit perfectly just in the right place. BUT if you feel an absolute need to elongate this piece, what I would do almost immediately after that last chord, is to introduce a nicer more rhythmically stable melody, as to provide balance to the preceding measures. After this nicer melody is over I would then return and almost sandwiching with a similar or possible exact copy of the first few rhythmically ubiquitous bars. Anyways great JOB!

Keep up the good work, adn If I am not making sense to you feel free to ask questions.

P.S. I could not HELP comparing this piece a bit to Chopin's fantasie impromptu, they sound very similar at parts. Here's the link

YouTube - Yundi Li - Chopin "Fantasie" Impromptu, Op. 66

And if you listen to it you'll notice that there's a nicer slower melody in the middle of the piece..and as soon as it's over, it becomes sandwiched with a similar theme to the first crazy one. This is how I actually imagined your piece to sound if you'd continue.

Good job, and I hope to hear more.

I agree with Romanticist, some calming-down middle section will give you formal extension and nice contrast via simple ternary form, after which a da capo -literal or not- will bring the main theme double-force.

I loved the opening bars returning up-tempo! I'll give it a closer listening some other day.

I've given thought to your suggestion and am currently attempting a contrasting middle section. thank you for taking the time to look at this piece.

ooh, this is beautiful. The rhythmic drive, although it's not quick, gives a lively feel to the piece. your harmonic language is very unique, imo. I haven't heard anything quite like it, and it kept a hold on my interest all the way through, which was good. like I said, beautiful piece, I hope to see it when it's finished.

Thank you very much for your kind words, I'm in the process of revisions(a seemingly endless task) and hope to complete it soon.
