Red face Romance (mp3)

Hello, friends, I'd like to share a little romantic orchestral piece with you. It will be part of my composition exam tomorrow along with 2 other modernist pieces (yuck, my teacher made me write those, they sound horrible). I wrote this myself, had the idea for over a month and made the audio in a couple of days, worked almost non-stop. Constantly bouncing to audio on my old PC and mixing was a pain but finally it's done.

Here it is, make sure to turn up your volume a bit, I didn't make it louder for fear of distortion. Hope you enjoy:

Love the melody. Soaring, powerful, MAJESTICALLY romantic. The chimes and orchestra are heartbreakingly beautiful. Your samples are wonderful, your writing is logical yet very driven... This is one of the best pieces I've ever on YC. It actually kind of reminded me of a great Horner melody, (or even vintage Silvestri or Goldsmith.)
KEEP IT UP MAN!

That's what I want to become, a film music composer. I'm not sure film industries hire 18 year olds though.

Oh and I am also a John Williams fan.

One complaint: there's really too much reverb, the sound is muddy.

As film music, it's quite pretty.
As a stand-alone orchestral piece, it's meh (in my opinion, only). Just a bit too cliché for me.

Wouldn't mind seeing a score of course, it's a lot easier to comment when you can say "blah blah at measure blah blah in this instrument blah blah".

However, for an 18-yr old, you've got a great future ahead of you. Don't give up on the "modernist pieces". I'm sure that with some imagination you'll be able to apply the same "romanticism" to the "modernist" aesthetic. Remember, just because it's more dissonant doesn't mean it can't be just as romantic.

Thanks. The reverb covers up some of the unrealistic transactions from note to note in some parts. I had to choose out of "not very realistic sounding" and "more realistic but muddy".

About the modernism, I used to like it but with my not so good composition teacher I started disliking it a lot. And to tell you the truth, I don't feel like getting back into it, the audience for it is small. Tonality is the way to go for now.

I have a score but it's without the percussion (no timpani, bass drum, triangle, mark tree (or I think it's a mark tree), cymbals). Want me to upload it somewhere?

And what's that glissando instrument called? Is it a bell tree or a mark tree? They're not chimes as chimes are tuned and these are untuned. The patch just says Various Metals and it's got some triangles and this.

I actually did take note of the untuned "twinkles" I just generalized with term "chimes." lol Just didn't want to sound musically illiterate or anything.
PS
I'm listening to it again right now... It's even better this time. This is what music's all about for me.
