You convey the mood well, but I feel thet the piece just drones on for quite a while, until about 3:00. It just fades into the background, liek film music, but also, I couldn't help imagining a oboe solo from about 0:30 to 3:00.
After 3:00 it gets more exiting.

I didn't really get sadness out of this. The harmony is just so awkward I couldn't agree with the sound.

Thanks both of you....I have been told the same from my ex girlfreind....that it needs a melody....

I have decided not to continue on this.

Hmmmm not sure whether I get the sadness in this either. I thought the tempo was a bit on the slow side. Usually with a sad piece I expect something in a minor key, but I couldn't work out what key you were sticking too with this piece - I hope you don't take offence but it seemed a bit all over the place with no main theme or phrase that repeated. But still, it was an interesting piece - I just got the feeling that you were indifferent rather than sad.

Hmmm...I'm listening to this and no offense, but sadness is not at all what came to mind while listening. What came to mind was film music and while yes it is lovely, it is not exciting enough or depressing enough (listen to Barber's Adagio-it kind of reminds me of this in a not so depressing key and for a solo piano instead of strings).

Now of course I don't recommend dropping the piece. hold on the midi and return to it in say a couple months and see if you think it's still worth working on or not. Best of luck good sir.
