My question is simple...how the heck do you save a file as audio in Finale? It seems like it should be easy, but (a) it will only let me save it as a .wav file, and (b) it recorded the first measure half speed, and only a minute and a half of the song. I don't understand!

I am using the Academic version for PC. (Why would anyone buy the "pro" version? Isn't it the same?) I am using GPO sounds, so...maybe that has something to do with it. In all honesty, the cello sound really let me down...incredibly so, really.

*EDIT* Oh, and it won't let me open "Save Preferences" for some reason... This doesn't seem good.

Thanks for the help,

Evan

It's so much easier just to play the file back as you record it in a program like Audacity. Audacity is free and can be downloaded from audacity.sourceforge.net/.

Cheers.

Evan, I have an academic version I got through my affiliation with my church. When I do a Save Special - Save As Audio File, it allows me to save as either a WAV or MP3 compressed file, and the whole thing. Are you sure you have a fully registered version? Sounds like Finale still thinks your version isn't fully registered. If you have GPO sounds, you seem to be using 2006, which would give you a lot more bells and whistles than I have with 2005.

Right, at first it let me save as mp3 OR wav, but now only wav. I still can't open save preferences... Maybe I'll have to consult the company. I don't think this is in the manual.

TO CHRIS:
Well, I hate to just give up. Regardless of how much better Audacity is, I'm under the notion that MY $300 BUCKS HAD BETTER WORK!!!

Thanks for your help,

Evan

Evan,

The Finale forums might have something on it. Good luck.
